FarmAssistance Privacy Policy

There's no login screen on first launch — the app opens straight to the dashboard, no account needed. Creating one is entirely your choice, reachable anytime from Settings → "Create an account." Without one, the app works fully as a local, single-device tool — nothing about your farm ever reaches our server, and no name/email/password exists for you at all. If you do create a free account:

• Your password is hashed with bcrypt before it's ever written to our database — we cannot see or recover your actual password.
• Your farm data — farms, fields, crops, tasks, livestock, health/production records, financial transactions, inventory, equipment, maintenance logs, and documents — is synced to our server, tied to your account, so it's available on any device you log into.
• Team collaboration (inviting other people to a farm) specifically requires an account for both the farm owner and whoever they invite.
• Where this lives: our application server runs on Render; the database runs on Neon (managed PostgreSQL).

FarmAssistance lets you invite other people to your farm by email, with a role (e.g. manager, worker). Once someone accepts — by registering or logging in with the matching email — they can see and edit that farm's data. This is a real, deliberate data-sharing decision you make each time you invite someone.

FarmAssistance looks up real pesticide/product authorization and weather/satellite data from official government and scientific sources — ONSSA (Morocco), EPA (United States), Health Canada PMRA, ANSES E-Phy (France), Ctgb (Netherlands), MAPA Agrofit (Brazil), APVMA (Australia), the European Commission's Pesticides Database, MET Norway (today's weather and forecast), NASA POWER, SILO (Australia), and the Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem (Sentinel-2 satellite imagery for field vegetation health). Some of this data is bundled with the app and updated periodically by the developer; some is fetched live — either directly from your device, or via our server where a service (like Copernicus) requires credentials that can't safely live in a distributed mobile app. None of these lookups include your name, email, or account information — at most, a field's coordinates or a search term.

The list below assumes you've created an account — without one, every mention of "our server" simply doesn't apply, and that data stays in local storage on your device only.

• Your name, email, and password hash — only if you have an account: local secure storage on your device, and our server database. Sent to our server to log in and sync; never shared with anyone except as described in Team members.
• Farms, fields, crops, tasks, livestock, inventory, equipment, financial records, and documents you create — local database on your device (SQLite) always; additionally our server database if you have an account. With an account, synced between your devices and our server and shared with any team members you've added to that farm; without one, never leaves your device.
• Photos you take or attach (crops, animals, equipment, documents) — local device storage, referenced by the app. Not uploaded anywhere.
• Your farm's saved location and field boundaries, if you set them — local database always; additionally our server if you have an account. Coordinates only (never your name or email) are sent to MET Norway for today's weather and forecast, and to NASA POWER or SILO for historical weather, regardless of whether you have an account. Satellite vegetation health (NDVI, via Copernicus) specifically requires an account, since it's looked up through our server rather than directly.
• Search terms you type into the regulatory product search or the assistant — not stored beyond the current session. Sent to the relevant government registry to run your search, never logged or stored by us, regardless of account status.
• App preferences (language, theme, unit system, notification settings) — local device storage only, never leaves your device.

The FarmAssistance mobile app shows ads through Google AdMob to stay free. Google (and its advertising partners) may collect device/advertising identifiers and general device information to select and measure ads — governed by Google's own Privacy Policy. This is separate from your farm data — the ad SDK never sees anything you enter into the app.

• On iOS, the app shows an App Tracking Transparency prompt asking whether FarmAssistance can use your device's advertising identifier. Declining is fully supported — you'll still see ads, just less targeted ones.
• Consent (GDPR/UK, and elsewhere): the app uses Google's User Messaging Platform to show a consent form where required by law. You can change this choice at any time from Settings → Ad privacy choices in the app.
• Where ads appear in the app: a small banner is shown on the Reports screen; occasional full-screen ads may appear when you bring the app back to the foreground, or after completing several tasks in a row — never in the middle of entering data, and never more than a few times per session.
• The mobile app does not have its own analytics or crash-reporting SDK — the only third-party data collection inside the app itself is the AdMob SDK described here.
• This website does not show ads.

This website (not the mobile app) uses Google Analytics to understand how many people visit and which pages they use — page views, general device/browser information, and approximate location. It does not see anything you enter into an account (name, email, farm data) unless you're on a page that happens to include it in the URL, which none of ours do. Governed by Google's own Privacy Policy.

• Camera — to photograph crops, animals, equipment, or documents you choose to attach to a record. Photos stay on your device.
• Photo library — to attach an existing photo to a record, same as above.
• Location — to map your farm/fields and fetch weather/satellite data for that location. Only used when you explicitly set a farm or field's location; never tracked in the background.
• Notifications — for local reminders you can control per category in Settings → Notifications (task due dates, equipment maintenance, vaccination reminders, harvest windows, pesticide expiry warnings). Scheduled entirely on your device — there is no push-notification server.
• Advertising ID (Android) — used by Google AdMob as described above. Not used for anything else.

You can permanently delete your account and all of its data at any time from the mobile app's Settings → Edit profile → Delete account. This removes your account and every farm you own, immediately and irreversibly.

FarmAssistance is a farm-management tool intended for adult farm operators and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes will be reflected here with an updated "Last updated" date, and in the app's own release notes for any change that affects what data the app touches.
